Disneyland Paris has unveiled a new addition to its classic attraction, Le Pays des Contes de Fées (Storybook Land Canal Boats), which has been entertaining park goers since its inception at Disneyland Paris in 1994.

Known for its miniature landscapes inspired by famous fairy tales, this attraction is set to introduce a new scene out of Pixar Animation Studios film, “Up.”

The new scene will feature Carl and Russell from “Up” amidst the picturesque backdrop of Paradise Falls, with the possibility of encountering the colorfull bird Kevin nearby. The new “Up” scene will replace the current “Wizard of Oz” and is part of ongoing efforts to breathe new life into the attraction.

Keith Rector, Art Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, explained the significance of integrating “Up” into Le Pays des Contes de Fées: “What makes Le Pays des Contes de Fées so unique is that the attraction’s main character is its miniaturized storybook architecture. Carl’s flying house in ‘Up’ is an icon from this story, so strong that we felt it would be fitting as a finale to the attraction.”
This new scene joins previously announced updates featuring characters from “Frozen” and “Winnie the Pooh.” Behind the scenes, Disney Imagineers and Disneyland Paris teams are working hard to integrate these new narratives into the attraction’s storyline.
In conjunction with these new additions, Le Pays des Contes de Fées has received Vittel as a new sponsor, extending a longstanding alliance with Disneyland Paris. The attraction’s queue line will feature updated decor and a refreshed marquee, integrating the sponsor’s presence throughout and highlighting the role of water in Disney’s storytelling.
