Disneyland Paris is set to enhance its Fantasyland attraction, Le Pays des Contes de Fées (Storybook Land Canal), in celebration of its 30-year anniversary in 2024. The relaxing attraction, which has been welcoming park goers since 1994, will be receiving two new scenes: “Frozen” and “Winnie the Pooh.”
https://anchor.fm/s/7618f58/podcast/rssLe Pays des Contes de Fées is a tranquil boat journey that pays tribute to stories and fables from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Conceived from an original concept by Walt Disney himself, this attraction reimagines the classic Storybook Land Canal Boats that made their debut at Disneyland in 1956. The Paris iteration boasts unique elements, including recreations of iconic scenes like Night on the Bald Mountain from “Fantasia,” Belle’s Village from “Beauty and the Beast,” and Rapunzel’s Tower from “Tangled.”

The first addition to the attraction is inspired by the blockbuster hit “Frozen.” Prior to its debut at Walt Disney Studios Park, “Frozen” will come to life in miniature form within Fantasyland. Disneyland Paris Imagineers are collaborating closely with Disneyland Paris Central Shops to craft a meticulous model of the majestic North Mountain, covered in a glistening layer of snow, complete with Elsa’s iconic Ice Palace atop. Park goers can look forward to spotting characters such as Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven as they journey to Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post (and Sauna).

This is not the first major “Frozen” based announcement Disneyland Paris has made in recent years. Walt Disney Studios Park Paris is currently constructing an entire land based on the intellectual property. After multiple delays “World of Frozen” is set to open sometime in 2025.

As park goers continue their boat voyage, another location will emerge along the way – the Hundred Acre Woods, home to Winnie the Pooh and his friends. This new addition to Storybook Land will be situated near the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs.

Keith Rector, Art Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “There’s something magical about taking something full scale and displaying it in miniature, it’s something Walt himself was obsessed with. I grew up nearby Disneyland in California, and Storybook Land has always been my favorite attraction. When I joined the team in Paris, we started a conversation about how we can bring new stories to Le Pays des Contes de Fées. I wanted to introduce new characters to this realm of storybook classics.”
These additions, along with a comprehensive refurbishment of the attraction, will be undertaken over the course of the coming year. Stay tuned to AirMagique for further updates on the new experiences coming to Disneyland Paris.
