Cast members at Phantom Manor begin their workday with a morning briefing at 6:55 am, where teams, sometimes also from nearby attractions, receive essential information for the day’s operations. The staff enters the attraction through a dedicated entrance, distinct from the guest pathway, and commences opening procedures once maintenance teams give the green light.

The opening process involves a comprehensive two-hour checklist completed by a small team. Tasks include inspecting the ride vehicles, known as “Doom Buggies,” and verifying sound systems throughout the facility. Staff members rotate through different positions approximately every 20 minutes once the attraction opens at 9:00 am.

The Porter position serves as the initial guest contact point, managing both standard and Disney Premier Access queues. Staff members in the foyer guide visitors into the windowless stretching room. Control screens with camera feeds help operators monitor guest flow throughout the attraction.

At the load/unloading area, cast members observe the moving walkway to ensure all riders enter/exit safely. Operators can adjust the ride speed or halt operations if necessary using control panels positioned throughout the facility.

The attraction features 130 continuously moving vehicles (‘Doom Buggies’) on a track, with each complete circuit lasting over six minutes.

Notable operational practices include greeting all guests with “Good evening” regardless of the actual time of day, a tradition that often surprises international visitors. The multilingual Cast Members includes employees fluent in multiple languages to accommodate the diverse guest population.

Cast Members occasionally assist guests who experience anxiety in the stretching room, with the control tower monitoring for individuals requiring assistance. These interventions are conducted discreetly to maintain the attraction’s atmosphere. Subscribe to AirMagique for more news and updates.
