Efteling revealed that a significant milestone was reached on September 14th (2023) at the construction site of the forthcoming attraction, Danse Macabre, as one of the initial components of the ride system was meticulously installed.

Earlier this week, the various segments of the mast arrived at the Efteling theme park. Before the towering mast, reaching meters in height, could be raised into position, a massive 400,000-kilogram crane was carefully prepared at the construction site. The precise operation commenced when the mast was suspended above the opening of the roof structure, requiring exact alignment with the building, ensuring it was level, and positioned at the correct angle.
Once the mast was accurately positioned, it was disengaged from the crane. Subsequently, the second part of the mast will be hoisted into the structure and secured onto the first section. Together, these mast components weigh a total of 45,100 kilograms and constitute a vital part of the Danse Macabre attraction’s ride system.
Unique Ride System for Danse Macabre Attraction
In the Danse Macabre attraction, a group of 108 visitors will simultaneously occupy one of six choir benches, each situated on a small independent turntable. These turntables have the capability to move individually or synchronize their movements to create a harmonious experience.
These smaller turntables are positioned on a larger turntable with a substantial diameter of 18 meters. To the backdrop of the renowned music composition “Danse Macabre,” this colossal disc will rotate, ascend, descend, and even tilt in multiple directions. Beyond the ride, the themed area will offer various amenities, souvenirs, and entertainment options.
Scheduled to Open in 2024 Danse Macabre will be part of a brand-new themed area spanning an impressive 17,000 square meters. The 20-meter-tall building will be enveloped in a mysterious setting. This themed area, featuring dining options, souvenir shops, and immersive entertainment, is poised to become the most spine-tingling addition to the Efteling theme park.
