Disneyland Paris has released new information about its upcoming Lion King-themed area at Disney Adventure World, first announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August 2024. Construction on this immersive world, the first ever dedicated entirely to Disney’s beloved 1994 animated film, is scheduled to begin in Fall 2025.

The centerpiece of the new area will be a major water attraction featuring state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics technology that will transport guests into the Pride Lands. The ride will feature a towering 37-meter-high Pride Rock, with guests entering through caves beneath the iconic formation. The attraction will include three exciting descents, with the most dramatic dropping 16 meters.

“We are looking forward to launching the construction of this new immersive world inspired by The Lion King and its major attraction, which will mark another milestone for Disney Adventure World,” said Michel Den Dulk, Vice President and Portfolio Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering. “The main attraction will showcase the key features of Disney experiences: loveable characters, an unforgettable soundtrack, immersive décor and effects, and exciting thrills thoughtfully delivered throughout the adventure.”

According to park officials, the attraction will incorporate numerous Audio-Animatronics figures, detailed environments, special effects, and the film’s iconic musical score. The Lion King area is expected to open following the debut of World of Frozen.

Beginning April 19, guests can preview Disney Adventure World’s transformation at Animation Celebration’s post-show area, where a detailed scale model will showcase the park’s expanded footprint—nearly double its original 2002 size. The model will feature World of Frozen, Adventure Way, and the future Lion King area. Visitors can access this preview without attending the Frozen: A Musical Invitation show.

Disneyland Paris also announced new details regarding Adventure Way, World Premiere, the refurbishment of Disney Sequoia Lodge, and a new UP attraction. Subscribe to AirMagique for more news and updates.
