Named the Overland Trail Café, this establishment promises to add an authentic touch of history and flavor to the Wild West-themed area of the park.

The Overland Trail Café pays homage to the rich history of Frontierland a.k.a. Thunder Mesa, serving as a takeaway spot for travelers heading westward by stagecoach or wagon. Additionally, it has a historical tie as a mail relay station for the renowned Pony Express postal service of yesteryears. The café’s name, Overland Trail, harks back to one of the primary routes connecting the eastern and western regions of the United States, utilized by the Pony Express, stagecoaches (Overland Mail), and gold seekers bound for California.

Drawing inspiration from both historical facts and popular depictions of the Far West in culture, the Imagineers behind Frontierland have meticulously crafted the café’s architecture. The kiosk seamlessly blends two predominant styles found in the land’s buildings, featuring a central structure constructed with stone and wood, while the edges are fashioned in adobe. This design creates a harmonious transition between the Thunder Mesa entrance and the Pueblo-style facades, reminiscent of the Western films, particularly those by Sergio Leone, which were renowned for their European influence.

Adding a playful nod to the cinematic genre, the café’s facade proudly displays a list of stagecoach stops, including some of the most iconic names from beloved Western films. This whimsical touch is sure to delight enthusiasts of the genre and park visitors alike.

To celebrate the grand opening of the Overland Trail Café, a specially curated menu has been introduced. Among the offerings are the famed turkey drumsticks, perfect for a hearty snack, and the quintessential churros, providing park goers with a delectable break as they explore Frontierland.
