What You Need to Know (Spoiler Free)

First of all, Disneyland Paris has a strict no photo/video policy during the show. Meaning there’s not that much content out on the interwerbs, besides through official sources. Although we would have loved to take pictures, the limitation improves the viewing experience for everyone,

For our 3 viewings we were fortunate enough to experience it without any technical issues twice. To the surprise of few the new and innovative 30 minute show has a few technical kinks to work out over the coming months. A technical delay usually results in the performance of TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure stopping for a moment, usually with a curtains close, and then picking up from where it left off a few minutes later. We also experienced a delayed start once but that is preferable to the interruption of an ongoing performance.

TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure is a multi-layered show that makes use of screens, projections, lighting, physical props, decor, a live orchestra, and a plethora of Pixar characters from Up, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc. and Coco. TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure is a distinctive and unique show and a completely different experience from Mickey and the Magician or The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands. Especially from a character, story, musical, and set perspective. It’s a strong and sensory show that’s a worthy addition to the great entertainment offering at Disneyland Paris. It’s a must see!

Charlie’s Storyline

We enjoyed the overall storyline although it’s just another construct that is intended to fuse multiple films and character universes into one show. However, the message is wondrously positive, it’s all about teamwork, a.k.a. working TOGETHER! Even though the storyline did not reinvent the wheel it’s emotional baseline and message are great.

The live orchestra is a real highlight and gives the show more gravitas. Parents should be aware that it can get loud though, louder than Mickey and the Magician in our experience. An impressive aspect is the fusion of screens, mobile LED panels, projections, and physical props. These different components synergise seamlessly, serving to generate a sense of depth, impressive visual effects, and providing the opportunity to seamlessly introduce or remove physical objects.

Characters or objects could be physically present on stage in one moment and purely on screen in the next. The imaginative minds at Disney found nice ways to play with both dimensions. Further effects include wind, the strawberry scent of Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear, smoke around the set for up in the air scenes, soap bubbles, streamers, and real paper music sheets coming down over the audience like confetti. There’s a lot going on at all times.

Each scene has it’s own unique charm and highlights. However, our favorite may be the Coco segment. Initially quiet and tranquil, it swiftly transforms into a highly spirited and vibrant celebration featuring Miguel. Yet another incredible scene showcases Nemo, screen-based elements and live actors flawlessly merge and interact within a vibrant underwater setting. Although the majority of TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure was astounding, the “Up” scene drags a bit, with few things happening on stage and a lot of French dialogue.

Unbalanced Vernacular

Our only constructive criticism would be to balance out the amount of French dialogue with some English for international visitors. Especially in the previously mentioned “Up” scene. Hopefully Disneyland Paris will rework that part of TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure in the future. Since it’s truly a fantastic show overall.

Final thoughts on TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure

Go see this show! TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure is worth seeing and experiencing in person. Be sure to get there early, since the show is extremely popular. Many folks line up 45-90 minutes before the official start, especially on busier days. Show times can be checked via the official app. Usually TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure is performed 4 times a day. With the first show premiering at 11.00 a.m. and the last around 5 p.m.. TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure also features a catchy theme song which is available on most streaming services. Congratulations to the Disneyland Paris entertainment team on another fantastic show.
