Efteling theme park has announced the reopening of its newly renamed Efteling Wonder Hotel on April 18, following comprehensive renovations that began in 2021.

The hotel, previously known as Efteling Hotel, has undergone significant changes including room renovations, an exterior makeover in 2023, and a complete redesign of the first floor. According to park officials, while the upper floors represent an “air castle,” the ground floor now functions as a “base station” or “engine room” from which stories originate and are shared.

Juul Verreweg, a WonderVaarder with his own mission and dream, collaborates with children each evening to fill Moby the WonderDroomMobiel’s spheres with dreams. Their collective effort generates enough DroomStoom to make the hotel take flight—unless a Verstoorder interferes with their plans. Source: Efteling

“With the opening of the Efteling Grand Hotel in 2025 on the horizon, we wanted to market our first hotel even more clearly,” (translated from Dutch) said Nicole Scheffers, Director of Park & Resorts. “The Efteling Wonder Hotel distinguishes itself from our other lodging locations through strong theming. It’s an air castle full of wonder stories.”

While grounded during daylight hours, the Efteling Wonder Hotel soars to Dreamland after dark. Guests can use the Dromenvaarder navigation instrument to steer the hotel through an interactive game targeting various Efteling realms. Successful navigation triggers themed music and lighting effects. The play area features five gaming screens for children and offers partial wheelchair accessibility. Source: Efteling

The renovated hotel features a lobby with display cases of Efteling souvenirs, a lounge, and a hospitality area where guests can enjoy breakfast, coffee, drinks, and à la carte dining. The restaurant, named Saga, offers a playful menu inspired by Efteling stories, with multiple smaller dishes designed for families.

Entertainment options include morning appearances by Efteling characters and evening visits from “Juul Verreweg,” described as a “WonderVaarder” who helps children collect dreams. A partially wheelchair-accessible interactive play area called “Dream Sailor” allows guests to “navigate” the hotel to different realms of the Efteling theme park.

Lunch is served daily from 12-4pm with fresh dishes and snacks. Evening dining features family-friendly small plates inspired by Efteling stories. Advance dinner reservations are recommended when booking your stay or through your Efteling account. Source: Efteling

All overnight stays include unlimited admission to Efteling park, which is just a short walk from the hotel. The Wonder Hotel offers various accommodation options including Premium Rooms, Suites, and Theme Suites. Subscribe to AirMagique for more news and updates.
