112. Movie Park Germany Trip Report

Hello everyone, on this European Theme Park Spotlight episode Eric and Niels are chatting about Movie Park Germany. The theme park, formerly known as Warner Bros. Movie World, has evolved…

Disneyland Paris has announced that Crush’s Coaster, one of the most popular rides at Disney Adventure World, will close on September 7, 2026, for what is being billed as the most comprehensive refurbishment in the attraction’s nearly two-decade history. The ride is not expected to reopen until summer 2027.

The closure is notable not only for its length, but because of the attraction involved. For nearly two decades, Crush’s Coaster has remained one of the defining experiences at Disney Adventure World, routinely posting some of the highest wait times in the park. The spinning roller coaster, which officially opened on June 9, 2007, is themed around the Disney-Pixar film Finding Nemo and represents the first-ever collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and German roller coaster manufacturer Maurer Söhne.

The refurbishment will be carried out in two main phases over approximately ten months. Teams will first work on numerous systems essential to the attraction’s operation, including the complete replacement of several technical components such as certain control systems, sensors, communication equipment, and selected sections of track. The second major phase will focus on an extensive program of testing and technical validation to ensure that all systems are functioning properly before the attraction reopens.

The scope of the project goes well beyond routine maintenance. Multiple teams are involved, including Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, Design & Delivery, Maintenance, and the resort’s Central Workshops, all of whom have been preparing behind the scenes for several months. The resort says the work is designed to extend the attraction’s operational lifespan well into the future and to improve comfort for both guests and cast members.

In addition to the technical overhaul, Disneyland Paris will also use the closure to refresh the attraction’s show elements — cleaning, repainting, and repairing scenic pieces throughout the ride to help preserve the colorful underwater world inspired by Finding Nemo.

While Crush’s Coaster previously underwent an extended six-month closure in 2015, the project beginning in September 2026 represents the most extensive refurbishment ever carried out on the attraction since its opening nearly 20 years ago.

For visitors with trips to Disneyland Paris already booked between this September and next summer, the closure is worth factoring into plans. Guests who would normally spend time queuing for Crush’s Coaster will likely shift toward other major attractions, potentially increasing wait times elsewhere across Disney Adventure World — particularly during holidays and school breaks.

Disneyland Paris has not announced an exact reopening date beyond “summer 2027.”
