Disneyland Paris has started installing four new scenes along the banks of the Rivers of the Far West in Frontierland, the company announced, with the work being carried out gradually over the coming weeks.

Guests boarding the Molly Brown riverboat from Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing will be able to spot the new additions, which include a buffalo on the prairie and a group of raccoons and a skunk perched on a floating log. The figures are based on original sketches by Marc Davis, an Imagineer and Disney Legend who was one of Disney’s “Nine Old Men,” a group of animators who worked at Walt Disney Productions in its early years. Davis joined the company in 1935 as an animator on “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” before later moving to WED Enterprises, where he contributed to attractions including Jungle Cruise, the Enchanted Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress, “it’s a small world,” the Haunted Mansion and Country Bear Jamboree.

According to the park, the new figures were redesigned and produced by Walt Disney Imagineering Paris teams specifically for this project. The installation follows the recent refurbishment of the Molly Brown riverboat, which was renovated from bow to stern, and is intended to deepen the immersive Old West atmosphere of Frontierland.

Disneyland Paris said the work is being conducted overnight, so Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing will remain open during the day for guests wanting to take a cruise along the Rivers of the Far West.
The update was first announced in December 2025, with new scenes expected to debut along the waterway by the end of summer 2026. The project has drawn additional attention because it comes as Walt Disney World in Florida has permanently closed its own Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom as part of a broader overhaul of that park.
