Disney Illuminations, the nighttime spectacular at Disneyland Park in Disneyland Paris will be receiving a major upgrade.
Illuminations originally premiered on the 26th of March 2017 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the park and replaced the previous show, Disney Dreams!
Disney D-Light will premiere along with the 30th Anniversary celebrations on the 6th of March 2022.

The new pre-show will combine castle video projections, illuminated water jets, lighting effects, mist, popular Disney songs, and drone technology.
For a limited time, 200 drones will perform a choreography towards the end of the pre-show.
The drones and technology are going to be provided by European company Dronisos, a provider based in Bordeaux.

Imagineers have been secretly testing the technology with Dronisos, in Bordeaux.
The synchronized drones will form the number “30”, a.k.a. the resorts 30th Anniversary logo in the sky right above Sleeping Beauty Castle.

While the new theme song created for the 30th Anniversary – “Un monde qui s’illumine” (“A world that lights up”) will be playing.
The pre-shows soundtrack was recorded with a symphony orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London.

This is the first time a Disney Park uses the drone technology as part of a daily outdoor show.
It’s great to see Disneyland Paris dabbling in new technologies. If it proves to be a sustainable solution we’ll likely be seeing more drone integration in the future.
