Europa-Park has unveiled the revamped horror attraction, formerly known as “Geisterschloss”, under its new name, “Castello dei Medici”, following several months of renovation.
https://anchor.fm/s/7618f58/podcast/rssThe German amusement park reopened the attraction today, featuring redesigned scenes and modified animatronics. Despite the changes, the original name “Geisterschloss” remains displayed on the facade.

The new storyline introduces park goers to Lorenzo dei Medici, a mysterious member of the influential Medici family that ruled Florence and Tuscany from the 15th to 18th centuries. According to Europa-Park, Lorenzo’s successful reign was abruptly ended by the treacherous Pazzi family.

In his quest for revenge, Lorenzo acquires an ancient stone tablet with strange symbols and meaningful writings, which suggests he could achieve eternal life by following its instructions. Park goers can discover whether Lorenzo succeeded during the nearly four-minute long dark ride.

The previously installed “Happy Family” film elements have been stripped from the attraction and replaced by new thematic elements that support the updated storyline. References to Europa-Park’s Adventure Club of Europe have also been integrated into “Castello dei Medici”.

Since 1982, the haunted house has been a fixture in Europa-Park’s Italian-themed area. The recent renovations, which began in early January, also included a thorough review of the building’s fire safety. As a result, high-profile inspections were conducted last winter while the attraction was still in operation. Subscribe to AirMagique for more updates and news.
