Europa-Park’s classic “Geisterschloss” or Ghost Castle, a longstanding attraction that has spooked park goers for four decades, is set to reopen after a complete modernization. The popular “Castello dei Medici” ghost train, located in the park’s Italian section, will welcome guests once more on Thursday, July 25 2024, coinciding with the start of the school holidays in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Originally opened in 1982, the Ghost Castle has become synonymous with childhood memories for many park goers. However, years of operation had left the ghosts, zombies, and other creatures looking worn out. Responding to fan criticism and the need to comply with updated fire safety regulations, Europa-Park undertook a significant renovation of the attraction.
https://anchor.fm/s/7618f58/podcast/rssPark boss Roland Mack emphasized the importance of the upgrades, citing past fire incidents in 2018 and June 2023 that caused extensive damage to other areas of the park. The refurbishment of “Castello dei Medici” is part of a broader effort to enhance safety and refresh park attractions.

The modernized haunted castle preserves its nostalgic charm while introducing a new storyline featuring Lorenzo, inspired by the historical figure Lorenzo de’ Medici from the Italian Renaissance. Park goers aged eight and over can look forward to spooky adventures as they explore the revamped realm of the undead.
Europa-Park hopes that the renovated ghost train will offer a seamless blend of old allure and new thrills, ensuring a memorable experience for both longtime fans and new visitors. Subscribe to AirMagique for more updates and news.
