Europa Park has revealed the new high intensity roller coaster will be called “Voltron Nevera powered by Rimac” by MACK Rides. The upcoming e-ticket attraction will be the highlight of the Croatian themed section of Germany’s largest theme park. It offers park goers the opportunity to engage with Nikola Tesla’s remarkable experiments involving electricity, resulting in a rush of adrenaline. With a length spanning 1385 meters, this rollercoaster will be the longest multilaunch coaster on the continent, boasting three acceleration sections, a European record.

Croatian inventor Mate Rimac, who is associated with the Bugatti Rimac joint venture, is collaborating with Europa-Park to bring the new roller coaster to life. The formal declaration of this partnership occurred on August 10, 2023, on Hvar Island, with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic in attendance. Hvar’s architectural and natural elements serve as a wellspring of inspiration for Europa Park’s (upcoming) 17th themed area.

Mate Rimac regards Nikola Tesla as a significant figure in the exploration of electric motors and high-performance vehicle batteries. Nevera is derived from the Croatian term for sudden, brief storms accompanied by lightning on the Adriatic coast. The Stryker Coaster “Voltron Nevera” will provide a unique acceleration experience, utilizing nearly 300 stators to propel the trains to speeds of up to 90 km/h at four separate instances, one of which is in reverse.

Through this collaboration, Europa-Park is partnering with one of Croatia’s prominent companies. According to Michael Mack, “My wife Miriam comes from the country and as such has played a key inspirational role in the shaping of the new themed area. The fact that our new cooperation partner is now also from Croatia makes me very proud.”

“Voltron Nevera” is the first major addition to Europa Park in 12 years and is set to be completed in 2024. Park goers can look forward to three launches and seven inversions. With a 105-degree launch angle, “Voltron Nevera” will feature the world’s steepest launch, providing an entirely novel adrenaline rush immediately after takeoff.

Following the completion of “Voltron Nevera”, construction will commence on the Croatian-themed area. With the initial phase covering approximately 20,000 square meters, including the rollercoaster and station building. The station pays tribute to Nikola Tesla’s “Wardenclyffe Tower”, reflecting his aspiration to achieve the transmission of wireless, long-range electrical energy. Park goers can wander along limestone pathways and quaint streets, immersing themselves in an authentic Croatian atmosphere.

The new 4D film “Voltron 4D” will provide park goers with an in-depth exploration of Nikola Tesla’s story. “Voltron 4D”’ will be exclusively screened at Europa-Park’s Magic Cinema 4D in autumn 2023. The action packed 12-minute live-action film enables park goers to experience the journey of Nikola Tesla, from his Croatian roots, as he collaborates with the legendary Adventure Club of Europe to usher in the electric age.
