112. Movie Park Germany Trip Report

Hello everyone, on this European Theme Park Spotlight episode Eric and Niels are chatting about Movie Park Germany. The theme park, formerly known as Warner Bros. Movie World, has evolved…

German leisure park operator Karls held a topping-out ceremony on July 1, 2026, celebrating construction progress on what is set to become the world’s first theme park dedicated to Bibi & Tina, the popular German children’s brand centered on a young witch and her horse-loving best friend. The park, rising next to the existing Karls Erlebnis-Dorf attraction in Elstal, in the Havelland district west of Berlin, is scheduled to open on July 1, 2027.

Brandenburg’s state premier, Dietmar Woidke, attended the ceremony alongside Karls owner Robert Dahl. Woidke highlighted the project’s potential to draw visitors from across the region and beyond, noting Brandenburg’s strong ties to horse culture as a natural fit for a brand built around friendship and horses.

The park is being developed through a close partnership between Karls and KIDDINX, the German media company behind the Bibi & Tina franchise, which spans animated series, audio dramas, books and feature films. The new attraction will draw on original animated content, audio-drama storylines and film soundtracks, alongside newly produced multimedia material, according to Karls.

A major investment
Karls has put the project’s cost at roughly 60 million euros, with more than four years of planning and construction involved. The park will span about 36,500 square meters (roughly nine acres) and has drawn on the work of more than 55 project partners and over 35 contracting firms, the company said.

Rides, dining and a flagship store
Once complete, the park will feature four themed areas and 11 new attractions for visitors of various ages, including both indoor and outdoor rides. The centerpiece is billed as Germany’s first dueling launch coaster built in a Möbius-strip layout — a design in which two trains repeatedly cross paths along a continuous, figure-eight-like track. Karls owner Robert Dahl has described the ride as one where two trains “duel” by meeting each other again and again along the course.

Beyond the rides, the park will include more than 10 dining venues and what Karls calls the only official Bibi & Tina flagship store in the world. Live horses, ponies, chickens and other animals — including a goat named Hoheit — are expected to be part of the visitor experience, reflecting the franchise’s emphasis on horseback riding and farm life. Plans also call for themed playgrounds and an evening show to close out each day’s visit.

An on-site themed hotel
Adjacent to the park, Karls is also building a themed hotel with 46 Bibi & Tina family rooms designed in the style of the Martinshof, the fictional riding stable from the franchise. The rooms will overlook the park, and the hotel is intended to extend the experience into the evening and following morning.

Positioning within “Karls Welt”
Company leadership has framed the new park as part of a broader push to expand Karls’ offerings into a multi-day destination for domestic and international visitors, an initiative the company calls “Karls Welt.” Dahl said keeping the experience accessible remains a priority, noting that the new park — like the rest of Karls’ properties — will not charge a standard admission fee, with many offerings available at no additional cost. He added that accessibility and experiences for the youngest visitors were treated as top priorities during planning, and that KIDDINX was chosen as a partner in part because it shares those values.

The Bibi & Tina brand, which centers on the witch character Bibi Blocksberg and her friend Tina Martin, marks its 35th anniversary this year. Project leaders have compared the ambitions for the new park to other European properties built around children’s media franchises, such as the Peppa Pig theme park near Günzburg and Plopsaland’s Maya the Bee attractions, while acknowledging that matching the scale of a destination like Disneyland remains a long-term aspiration.

Karls said it expects to welcome its first visitors to the completed Bibi & Tina theme park on July 1, 2027.
