McDonald’s has opened a newly built restaurant at Disney Village in Disneyland Paris, replacing the location that first opened on the site 27 years ago. The project, which took over five years to design and construct at a reported cost of more than €20 million, marks one of the fast-food chain’s largest investments in France.

The new three-story building seats 600 guests, including 200 on outdoor terraces, and features 23 self-service ordering kiosks, a panoramic elevator, and a dual kitchen with five dumbwaiters to serve multiple floors. A three-story indoor play area aimed at younger visitors is also part of the redesign.

The restaurant employs 210 staff members who collectively speak 16 languages — a reflection of Disneyland Paris’s international visitor base. According to McDonald’s, 50 new permanent positions were created on top of the 160 employees retained from the previous restaurant.

The location also includes a McCafé and offers digital ordering features such as table service via QR codes and RFID enabled geolocation-based delivery within the restaurant.

On the environmental front, the building targets a BREEAM New Construction “Excellent” certification and compliance with France’s RE2020 energy regulations. It incorporates 250 square metres of solar panels, 350 square metres of green space across its roof and planters, and a 120-square-metre living wall intended to support biodiversity.

McDonald’s France President and CEO Jo Sempels described the opening as “a new milestone” that showcases the company’s expertise in France. Boris Solbach, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Disneyland Paris, said the project supports the broader transformation of Disney Village and continues a partnership between the two companies that dates back to 1999.

McDonald’s also noted that 75% of the restaurant’s raw materials are sourced from French producers across beef, chicken, wheat, potato, and lettuce supply chains — consistent with the brand’s wider sourcing commitments in France.
