Europa-Park is set to launch a new 3D interactive dark ride in 2025, inviting visitors to join popular mascots Ed & Edda on a racing adventure through iconic European cities. The ride, designed with screen based elements and immersive theming, is inspired by the upcoming animated film Grand Prix of Europe, a co-production between MACK Magic and Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany.

Riders will join Ed & Edda’s racing crew, working together to navigate through various locations and landmarks featured in the motion picture. Much like Disney Parks’ Toy Story Midway Mania!, the Gameplay Theatre attraction developed by MACK Rides is expected to feature targets for riders to aim at and hit. The attraction requires passengers to collaborate as a team to reach the finish line, enhancing the ride’s competitive and engaging atmosphere.

Europa-Park likely chose a screen-based attraction for Ed & Edda: GRAND PRIX Adventure due to spatial limitations at the location. This new attraction will be situated beneath the popular Food Loop Rollercoaster Restaurant, where meals are delivered via rollercoaster-style tracks powered by gravity.

The building that will house Ed & Edda: GRAND PRIX Adventure.

The attraction takes over the space previously occupied by a series of rotating theater experiences. The original installation, Das Lila Geheimnis, opened in 1990 as a revolving theater featuring animatronic displays about Milka chocolate production.

Work walls are up around the now defunct Journey to Rulantica however the Food Loop restaurant and monorail remain open and accessible to the public.

This attraction closed in 1998 when the Milka licensing agreement ended and was replaced by eMotional, a show that incorporated fountains and lasers. In 2003, Wunder dieser Welt briefly took its place for one season, followed by Zeitreise in 2004, which ran for six years. In 2010, Historama opened and remained until 2018, when it was succeeded by Journey to Rulantica.

Construction is ongoing at the future location of Ed & Edda: GRAND PRIX Adventure in Europa-Park.

The new ride will operate year-round, including during special holiday seasons like Summer, Halloween, and HALLOWinter, and will be located indoors. Subscribe to AirMagique for more updates and news.
