Disneyland Paris has been striving to reduce it’s carbon footprint over the last few years. As part of it’s new energy saving initiative the gas lamps have been turned off in both Arcades.

Other measures include keeping the doors closed in several shopping/dining locations, lowering the HVAC systems input on- and offstage, limiting the show lighting on building exteriors as well as turning off pyrotechnic effects during the daylight hours.

The arcades iconic gas lights are not the only gas related thing to be shut off. Torches by the Adventureland and Frontierland entrances have also been turned off during the day. In Adventureland, the torches by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril have also been turned off. To be fair the latter have been hit or miss, in terms of functionality, in the past.

Effects that play a large role in the attractions show quality such as the explosions in Catastrophe Canyon (Cars Road Trip, Walt Disney Studios Park) have not been shut off.
