Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced plans to develop “Minecraft World,” the world’s first fully immersive Minecraft-themed land at a major theme park. Set to open in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London, the project represents a significant expansion of the Minecraft franchise beyond its digital origins.

The £50 million development will be built around the game’s iconic biomes, mobs, and items, translating the visual language of the best-selling video game of all time into a physical theme park setting.

Planned attractions include a world-first Minecraft-themed roller coaster, interactive experiences, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining options.

Angela Jobson, SVP of Global Brand at Merlin Entertainments, described the project as an opportunity for “friends and families to play, explore and craft together on a truly epic scale,” adding that the two companies have worked closely to ensure an authentic experience for the game’s global fanbase.

The collaboration also involves a selection of prominent Minecraft content creators, brought on to help ensure the land resonates authentically with the game’s community.

Chessington World of Adventures is located approximately 35 minutes by direct train from London Waterloo. Further details are expected to be released in the future.
