As originally reported by DLP Report, construction is underway on the Lion King themed land at Disneyland Paris, with Disney filings revealing the extensive scope of “Project Sun” now in its initial construction phases.

Prime Location Adjacent to Avengers Campus
The new themed area will be strategically positioned next to Avengers Campus, with its main entrance opening directly onto Adventure Bay. While officially designated as a themed land, the centerpiece attraction will be a major Lion King experience housed in what will become the resort’s largest show building.
Construction documents show a clear transition between Adventure Bay’s existing pavement and the new land’s natural, earthy theming designed to evoke the African savanna setting of the beloved Disney film.
Extra Large Show Building
The attraction’s show building represents an unprecedented scale for the Paris resort, measuring 13,755 square meters in total size with 11,143 square meters of gross floor space. This massive structure will accommodate not only the main attraction but also guest queuing areas and retail space, occupying approximately half of the allocated project area.
Disney’s Imagineering team has designed the land layout to provide a gradual reveal of the attraction, strategically minimizing the visual impact of the enormous show building as guests enter the area. The building will reach 23 meters in height, while a centerpiece Pride Rock structure will tower at an impressive 37 meters tall.
Advanced Attraction Features
Although detailed ride layouts remain confidential, construction plans reveal the attraction will feature a water flume drop system and implement a dual loading system designed to maximize guest capacity. The extensive theming will include artificial rock work in beige tones, go-away green screening for the rear metallic facade, beige painted concrete surfaces, and year-round artificial landscaping to maintain consistent aesthetics.
The attraction’s lower sections, including the entrance and outdoor queue areas, will feature artificial thatched roofing to enhance the African savanna atmosphere.
Supporting Amenities
Beyond the main attraction, the Lion King land will offer several guest amenities. A 63-square-meter quick-service restaurant will feature a large covered terrace, bringing the total food and beverage area to 307 square meters.
Well-themed restroom facilities, including a dedicated family room, will serve visiting families. The land will also incorporate meet-and-greet locations where guests can interact with popular Lion King characters.
Additionally, a 299-square-meter retail shop, likely serving as the attraction’s exit, will be fully integrated into the themed rock work design.
Future Expansion Potential
The current Lion King project utilizes only a portion of the available expansion space in Disney Adventure World. According to the site plans, the area could potentially accommodate nearly two additional themed lands before reaching the World of Frozen area, suggesting Disney is preserving flexibility for future development phases.
Construction Progress
Recent site activity has included land clearing and height measurement testing. Disney has constructed a testing structure in a backstage area specifically to evaluate the drop feature that will be incorporated into the main attraction.
