Efteling’s beloved Fairytale Forest has welcomed back the enchanting candy house from Hansel and Gretel after an extensive eight-month restoration.
https://anchor.fm/s/7618f58/podcast/rssOriginally built in the 1950s, the whimsical structure had deteriorated over time, prompting a complete rebuild earlier this year.

To ensure authenticity, the team conducted a 3D scan of the house and its surroundings before demolition, enabling the creation of an almost identical replacement. The new candy house retains its charm, with painstaking attention given to details such as the hand-painted pancakes on the roof and restored decorative elements like pretzels and candies. The garden surrounding the house has also been refreshed, completing the fairy tale transformation.

Part of Efteling’s 15-acre Fairytale Forest, the candy house continues to bring the classic Brothers Grimm story to life for visitors of all ages. The forest, a hallmark of the Dutch amusement park, features iconic fairy tales depicted through animatronics and intricate buildings inspired by literary greats such as Hans Christian Andersen and Charles Perrault.
