Disneyland Paris has been equipped with its own wastewater treatment plant since 2013, making it the first theme park in Europe to have one.
https://anchor.fm/s/7618f58/podcast/rssThe treatment plant, situated in the resort’s backstage areas, is responsible for collecting and treating a daily volume of up to 3,500 m3 of wastewater from both Parks, the Disneyland Hotel (reopening in 2024), and Disney Village.

The water obtained from this purification process is utilized for cleaning pathways, irrigating the flowerbeds and golf course, filling ornamental ponds, and cooling down the energy plant.
In 2018, the wastewater treatment plant implemented an innovative technology aimed at reducing phosphorus levels in the treated water.

Here are some key figures:
- Since 2013, over 4 million m3 of drinking water have been conserved.
- Drinking water consumption has decreased by 24% between 2012 and 2022.
- Every year, more than 300,000 m3 of drinking water are saved, which is equivalent to 120 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
- The plant treats nearly 50% of the wastewater collected from the Parks
As part of Disneyland Paris ongoing mission to reduce water usage, special water saving shower heads are currently being tested in Disney Sequoia Lodge. The so called “Hydrao shower heads” reduce the quantity of water used in showers by 22%. Disneyland Paris will continue to outfit hotel rooms with the new shower heads and water saving flushing systems should they prove to be a success.

New strategies are currently being developed to utilize vacant land to collect and store rainwater. This water could be reused in the restrooms and backstage areas.
