Europa-Park has announced that the Panorama Train has returned to regular operation after a fire damaged part of the Spanish themed train station.

Earlier this week, a large fire ravaged part of the German amusement park, resulting in the destruction of the “Magic World of Diamonds (Zauberwelt der Diamanten)” walk through attraction. The fire also caused damage to various attractions and surrounding structures. Europa-Park teams have been hard at work, with the restoration process already underway.

The attraction first opened in 1975 and gives park goers the opportunity to gain an overview of the large theme park. Comparable to the Disneyland Railroad, Panorama train was originally manufactured by the American manufacturer Chance-Rides. The Panorama Train features four train stations in various lands: Germany, England (Paddington Station), Spain, and Russia.

Contrary to popular belief, the track is not level but encompasses various inclines and dips. With some featuring height difference of over 2 meters (2.2 yards). The Panorama Railway underwent a major transformation in the winter of 2019 to become more environmentally friendly. Europa-Park installed all electric locomotives in the trains. All four stations were also outfitted with rapid charging stations. While the original manufacturer, Chance Rides, offers an electric model, Europa-Park opted to convert the trains themselves.

Europa-Park upgraded the trains with cutting-edge technology. Opting out of traditional batteries and utilizing inductively charged double-layer capacitors instead. Enabling the train to operate within the theme park without emitting pollutants. Nevertheless, the nostalgic atmosphere of a steam locomotive was preserved by employing ultrasound diffusors to convert water into steam, accompanied by carefully crafted sound effects.
