As discovered by @DisneylandWorks on Twitter, Disneyland Paris has just filed a construction permit that has confirmed that Studio 1 will receive a major overhaul. Studio 1 has not changed much since Walt Disney Studios Park’s grand opening on March 16, 2002. The permit lists:
- Redevelopment of the building’s interior and exterior spaces
- Construction of an awning
- Change’s to the existing signage on the facade

Disney Studio 1, located in Walt Disney Studios Park, features multiple eateries and shops that are creatively concealed behind six distinct facades, creating the illusion of a movie “street”. These facades are designed after a variety of real and imagined Hollywood structures, spanning from the 1920s to the 1960s. Upon closer inspection, one can notice that the similarities between the Hollywood portrayed in Disneyland Paris and the one in California, USA are not just a product of clever special effects.

It’s likely, but not confirmed, that park goers will have to say “au revoir” to the golden age of Hollywood at Disneyland Paris. Studio 1’s new design could take an intellectual property first approach which has been Disney’s strategy for more than a decade.
