Magic Over Disney is a seasonal night time spectacular performed in Walt Disney Studios Park Paris. It’s only available on select dates during the off-season and colder months of the year. Usually in November and January. The show replaced Disney’s Magical Fireworks & Bonfire, which Disneyland Paris previously used as an incentive to entice more folks to come and visit during the colder months. Magic Over Disney is a huge step up from it’s predecessor. The projection mapping and soundtrack are way more Disney and upbeat. Although it was great to see Lake Disney, which is a beautiful large body of water, being used for entertainment.

What to Expect from Magic Over Disney
Expect the full extravaganza! Magic Over Disney featuresprojection mapping, catchy music and fireworks. Lots and lots of fireworks. Extremely up close fireworks. I don’t think I’ve ever been this close to professional explosives. Let me assure you that we felt perfectly safe the entire time. At the same time it takes some getting used to having a large firework light up just a few feet in front of you. Before the show begins Cast Members were setting up multiple black spheres on stick’s. Since we attended the last performance we first thought “Oh it’s probably video equipment, perhaps to tape the last show of the season”. No, they were high power fireworks launchers. Magic Over Disney was the largest scale fireworks performance I’ve ever been not 10 meters away from.

Magic Over Disney featured DJ Mickey Mouse, in the form of projection mapping on the Tower of Terror, remixing iconic Disney songs. The shows soundtrack was a bop. It’s in my top three of most catchy Disney show soundtracks. Everything was upbeat and featured a lot of electro swing remixes. So many folks were grooving along, including us. One of the best songs in the show was the I Wanna Be Like You (Sim Gretina Remix) from the Jungle Book. If you want to check it out or just want to relieve Magic Over Disney, watch the full video of the show on the AirMagique YouTube channel:

Other than that the show also featured remixed hits from the Aristocats, Frozen, Coco, Aladdin, and of course the iconic “it’s a good time” song from Mickey and Minnies 90th Birthday.
Highlight’s from Magic Over Disney
Seeing projection mapping on the Tower of Terror combined with up tempo music was my personal highlight. There’s really not one specific moment that stood out from the rest. Mostly because everything was just so much fun. The entirety of Magic Over Disney is one big party. Honestly, it could have run even longer, the show has a duration of about 10 minutes. So Magic Over Disney is rather short. A duration of about 20 minutes is ideal for a nighttime spectacular you watch standing up. The added length makes it worth it to line up early, which most folks do. Waiting 30 minutes, with some diehards lining up an hour before the performance starts, well the payoff would be even greater if it lasted a bit longer. The short length doesn’t detract from how fantastic Magic Over Disney is.

Last Takeaways
If you get the chance, check it out. It’s totally worth watching and kids as well as adults will have a blast. Quite literally with all the exploding fireworks and catchy music. Disneyland Paris also offered special travel deals for Magic Over Disney. You can usually book these through your local markets travel agency’s or websites. So not only do you get a pretty good deal, mostly low crowds, but also exclusive entertainment on top of that. We stayed at the Davy Crocket Ranch, and it was great even though it was cold outside. The cabins feature heating units in each room and it nice and toasty warm inside.
