Last Saturday (03.09.2022), around 6 p.m., a man was apprehended by security guards while masturbating to a video in front of a popular attraction. He was then taken into custody by the national police according to LeParisien

The 21-year-old was expelled from Disneyland Paris after witnesses reported “him masturbating in his pants while watching a video on his phone, while he was in front of an attraction”. The park’s security guards intervened before calling the police.

Another park goer, a mother, had to file a official complaint with the police. An official investigation has begun and the man was taken into custody.

Disneyland Paris communication teams were unable to confirm whether an official complaint would also be filed by the park. The man was released from police custody on Sunday. Police discovered that the young man, is under legal curatorship.

In France, a curatorship is a legal measure which intends to protect an adult who needs to be assisted, in regards to certain aspects in life. It is less invasive than guardianship. Individuals under curatorship retain part of their autonomy.

According to the local penal code, “sexual exhibition, in public spaces is punishable by a one year imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 Euros”. It is not relevant whether the suspect of the crime has remained in their clothing: “Even without nudity, sexual exhibition is constituted if it is imposed in the sight of others, in a place that can be seen by the eyes of the public. It is irrelevant wether or not the the sexual act is real or simulated.”

When minors are affected, “the penalties are increased up to two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 Euros,” according to the local criminal code.
